Job Summary:
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for helping create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. In this role, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support children’s daily activities, ensuring each child receives individualized attention and care. From assisting with creative play and learning experiences to helping with daily routines such as feeding, diapering, and potty training, you will play a key role in fostering children’s development and well-being.
Responsibilities:
· Assist with classroom activities: Work with the Lead Teacher to plan and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
· Support daily routines: Help manage daily routines such as diapering, potty training, feeding, and naptime to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of all children.
· Promote a positive environment: Actively engage with children in play and learning, fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.
· Maintain cleanliness and safety: Ensure the classroom is clean, organized, and hygienic at all times, following health and safety guidelines and regulations, especially during diapering and toileting routines.
· Assist with progress tracking: Help observe and document children’s developmental milestones and learning progress, offering input to support individual needs.
· Communicate with parents: Support open and positive communication with parents and guardians about their child's daily activities, progress, and any concerns.
· Collaborate with staff: Work as a team with the Lead Teacher and other staff members to ensure consistency and high-quality care throughout the center.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent (CDA or associate degree in early childhood education preferred).
· Experience working with young children in a childcare or early childhood education setting is preferred.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Physically capable of engaging in activities such as bending, lifting, and participating in floor-based play.
· Must be able to pass a background check and meet state licensing requirements.
Preferred Skills:
· Familiarity with diapering, potty training, and feeding infants and toddlers.
· CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
