Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to healthcare professionals, ensuring efficient patient care and smooth clinic operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care with a focus on compassion and empathy
-Check patients in a clinical setting including obtaining vital signs, review/update medical history, surgical history, family history, medications
- Document appropriate chief complaint and corresponding HPI's
- Assist healthcare providers in patient examinations and procedures
- Administer injections, nebulizers, immunizations as necessary under the direction of FNP
- Collect and process specimens for drug/alcohol tests, rapid viral tests, cultures, labs etc.
- Obtain EKG tracing (as needed)
- Clean and bandage wounds (as needed)
- Remove sutures (as needed)
- Ear irrigation (as needed)
- Perform medical equipment strapping (as needed)
- Provide clarification and/or refills for pharmacies as directed from FNP
- Handle patient messages, lab reports, imagining reports and ensure accurate documentation of medical records
- Enter recalls for follow up labs and appointments
- Complete prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic imaging
- Offer medical administrative support including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- Utilize coding knowledge for accurate billing and insurance purposes
-Perform basic life support measures when necessary
- Clean and sanitize clinical rooms
- Sanitize medical equipment
- Auto clave instruments (as needed)
- Keep record of in office medications
- Inventory of sample closet
- Inventory of clinic supply
Requirements:
- 1 or more years experience as a medical assistant, CNA or EMT
- Proficiency in medication administration and patient care techniques
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Experience in primary care, urgent care or related fields is advantageous
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and organization skills and attention to detail
