Position Summary
The Accountant will support financial operations for our ice rink facilities and promotional products and merchandise efforts, including both the Community First Igloo and the upcoming Ghost Pirates Ice Cove. This is a unique opportunity to blend accounting skills with the high-energy world of ice sports and event merchandising. The role offers variety in day-to-day tasks, from managing payroll to ensuring smooth financial processes for rink operations and merchandise sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and categorize financial transactions in QuickBooks Online
- Prepare and file sales tax returns for products, services, and events
- Process payroll for staff at Community First Igloo, Ghost Pirates Ice Cove, and 32 Degrees Marketing
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Maintain organized financial records for each business line
- Review and analyze financial statements
- Oversee 1099 processing for contractors and vendors
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis for business decision-making
- Track revenue and expenses related to promotional products and merchandise sales, such as event gear, apparel, and fan merchandise
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in event-driven or multi-entity environments
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Ability to manage financial operations for multiple projects or entities
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Payroll experience preferred
- Previous experience with sports, ice rink operations, or merchandise is a plus

Work Schedule
This position requires a Monday to Friday schedule with working hours between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Flexibility within this window will be discussed upon hiring, ensuring a balance between operational needs and personal time.
Occasional Travel
The role may require occasional travel to other locations where Zawyer Sports & Entertainment operates, including Ghost Pirates Ice Cove, as well as other business-related travel. Travel expectations will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.
