Description
Function: The Public Relations Manager is part of the Marketing team and is responsible for coordinating public relations efforts and supporting a broad range of marketing activities for the Community Food Bank (CFB). This position collaborates with internal key partners across the organization, including marketing, programs, community engagement, grants, donor stewardship, technology and administrative teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads or oversees a broad range of marketing activities, including public relations and communication strategies via traditional and digital channels.
- Ensures marketing projects and communications use engaging, brand-enhancing content that drives messaging across multiple channels.
- Contributes to current photo library of CFB functions and events.
- Creates engaging videos as needed for CFB public and internal communication. Assists other departments in video projects and trainings.
- Writes, approves and distributes press releases, award nominations, and other content, keeping press and marketing materials up-to-date. Copyedits, proofreads and revises communications as needed.
- Acts as CFB media spokesperson and first responder to media inquiries. Coordinates interview logistics and photo opportunities as requested.
- Oversees and analyzes CFB’s public image and publicity; strategically improves perception and builds awareness.
- Maintains accuracy of the CFB media contacts database.
- Supervises Social Media staff.
- Oversees storytelling efforts and storytelling crew.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of overseeing of marketing activities, including public relations and communication strategies via traditional and digital channels.
- Knowledge of Associated Press Stylebook guidelines.
- Knowledge of working in CMS platforms to maintain and create digital content.
- Skills in Adobe Creative Suite and video editing software at a high proficient level.
- Strong team management and leadership skills.
- Analytical and able to set and measure goals and results.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, volunteers, donors, and businesses.
- Strong time and management skills, long range planning and ability to 'see' roadblocks in advance.
- Ability to work without a high-level of direction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in learning and professional growth and doing the same for others.
- Ability to work with people from diverse economic, social, and political backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of experience in Public Relations including professionally speaking about an organization’s events and news.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
- Two (2) years of staff management and supervisory experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
- For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age; possess a current Arizona Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working or volunteering at a nonprofit and/or food bank.
Physical Requirements:
- Light Work – ability to exert 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Salary : $48,566 - $66,779
