What you’ll be doing
The Community Food Co-op’s Bakery Dishwasher and Delivery Driver is responsible for packaging all goods, preparing ingredients for bakers, assembling orders, delivery of prepared foods to the retail locations, washing all dishes in the bakery, assuring quality of all baked goods and providing excellent customer service to customers/members, coworkers and vendors.
Bakery Dishwasher and Delivery Drivers report the Bakery Department Managers.
Location & Commitments
- Holly Bakery, 405 E Holly St., Bellingham, WA
- Full-time, Non-Exempt
- Starting pay is $17.30/hr (range is $17.30-$20.70)
- Hours and days vary, morning, evening, and weekend shifts will be assigned
- Schedules are posted at least 2 weeks in advance
What you’ll be responsible for
- Provides excellent and professional customer service both externally and internally.
- Receives and puts away orders; maintains storage areas ensuring rotation and organization.
- Responsible for invoicing daily deliveries.
- Assures proper delivery of Bakery and Deli products.
- Assembles dry ingredients and mixes; prepares fillings, sauces, and frostings; scoops and shapes cookies, truffles, and balls.
- Washes baking dishes as necessary.
- Cleans bakery at the end of each shift; sweeps and mops work area at the end of each shift; cleans mixer and any other appliances after use.
- Ensures department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met.
- Familiarity with common allergens and follows protocol to prevent cross contamination.
- Knows and promotes co-op principles and mission, ability to explain membership clearly and efficiently and to follow Co-op work policies and procedures.
- Keeps supervisor informed of any problems and/or ideas.
- Participates in team, staff and other meetings as scheduled.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What skills are needed
- Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service.
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to maintain an up-to-date Washington State Food Handler’s Card and Driver’s License.
- Ability to learn and follow Co-op Bakery procedures.
- Knowledge of natural and organic foods preferred.
- Demonstrated skill in cutting and wrapping baked goods.
- Willingness to be open, to learn, and take on new responsibilities.
- Excellent communication, organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to speak, comprehend, and read English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical requirements (with or without accommodation)
- Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: paging, telephones, human voices, music, and machinery.
- Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, pushing/pulling carts, repetitive motion and use of hands for grasping and fine manipulation, lifting up to 60 pounds, and pulling carts up to 100 pounds
- Ability to operate all Bakery equipment safely and effectively (dishwasher, mixers, etc.)
- Ability to safely operate and drive the delivery van.
