The ideal candidate is passionate about community mental health work and strives to make a difference in the lives of those who are marginalized, underserved, and most in need.
The Clinician role is a unique blend of therapist/counselor (80%) and case manager (20%). The ideal candidate for the position has a significant capacity for compassion for others as well as an established practice of self-care and healthy boundaries. The Clinician II role is appropriate for a Master’s level graduate who is registered with the BBS and collecting single adult hours towards licensure. The current position available is in our new Permanent Housing Advanced Clinical Services (PHACS) program. In this role, you will provide mental health, behavioral health, and individual and group support to clients in permanent supportive housing who are living independently and may be struggling to do so in healthy ways. You will work closely with your teammates, including case managers and harm reduction specialists, to provide trauma-responsive wrap-around care for your clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions
- Maintain a client caseload of 12-15 clients
- Meet billing expectations for monthly Units of Service (UOS) as outlined in the following:
- Mode 15 = 2,350 min/mo & Mode 45 = 1,290 min/mo
- Facilitate group therapy on topics appropriate to client needs & demographics
- Complete assessments under the supervision of the with clinical supervisor(s)
- Conduct consultation with clinical staff regarding diagnoses and assessments
- Develop and update client treatment plans
- Act as Officer of the Day as assigned; consult with supervisor about case presentation and assignments
- Present formal case formulations to the team
- Submit documentation and notes independently while consulting with supervisor(s) as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely client charts
- Participate in care coordination and clinical supervision sessions
- Assist with new client orientation
- Adhere to established policies and procedures; attend training and meeting attendance
- Other duties as assigned
- Registration and assigned intern/associate number withBoard of Behavioral Science (BBS) in the State of California
- Registration with regulating Board in good standing
- Must meet Medi-Cal Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist requirements: Master’s degree plus two (2) years experience in a mental health setting, Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) years experience in a mental health setting, or Associate’s degree plus six (6) years experience in a mental health setting
- Proficient in documentation, utilizing strong clinical language skills
- Must have an understanding of the interconnection between complex medical conditions, substance use disorder, and mental health disorders
- Good computer skills in MS Office and G-Suite applications and the ability to work in a networked computer environment
- Bicultural, bilingual Spanish speaking or other SF Threshold Language strongly preferred
- Must have CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire
- TB clearance and proof of COVID-19 vaccination within 7 days of hire
- Ability to express empathy and caring in the context of professional relationships
- Ability to engage with others in a positive, friendly, energetic and helping manner
- Knowledge of San Francisco neighborhoods and community resources
- Ability to effectively de-escalate conflict
- Knowledge of homelessness, trauma, domestic/intimate partner violence, substance use disorder and recovery, HIV/AIDS, harm reduction, mental health disorders, neurodiversity, LGBTQIA communities, and systems of oppression
- Ability to work sensitively with individuals from diverse cultures, languages, abilities, backgrounds, and identities
- Strong self-awareness and commitment to personal praxis
- California ADP Certification
- Knowledge and familiarity with San Francisco billing databases (i.e. EPIC)
- Experience working with at-risk client populations
- Knowledge and familiarity with Medi-Cal
- Ability to stand and walk as needed throughout the shift for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to sit and use a computer, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods of time
- Finger, hand, and wrist agility
- Ability to complete tasks in an environment where interruptions are the norm and background noise is present
- Ability to move through buildings commonly including stairs, between buildings, and out in the community
