Donor Engagement Specialist

The role of the Donor Engagement Specialist is to assist the mission of the Community Foundation, engaging with individuals on their own personal philanthropy to fulfill and enrich their lives and the community. This role will create strong relationships with donors and fund holders throughout Allen County, increase the visibility of philanthropy through work with individuals and act as a collaborator to increase the capacity of the Philanthropic Services team.

This relationship builder will focus on growing and engaging new connections, taking individuals' philanthropy to the next level by fostering deeper, more meaningful relationships. They will help enhance the impact of philanthropic efforts while ensuring legacies are honored and supported efficiently, making significant impact throughout the community and those we serve.

The job may occasionally require a night or weekend, depending on specific events or initiatives. This comes with ample flexibility to ensure a balanced work week.

Hybrid work is available to employees after a minimum of 90 days of onboarding and training based on supervisor discretion.

Responsible to: Director of Philanthropic Services

Key Responsibilities:Individual Relationship Management

Work with the Philanthropic Services team to proactively and systemically develop and strengthen long-term relationships with existing donors, fund holders, prospects and professional advisors to assist all families, individuals and groups with their philanthropic goals.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with a variety of different types of fund holders as well as general Community Foundation donors. oMaintain regular documentation of donor records, gifts and donor advised grants.
  • Assist in all pertinent prospective donor meetings and stewardship, assisting with fund creation when needed.
  • Oversee a portfolio of fundholders and general donors with a goal to deepen relationships and provide a customized experience and interaction with these clients.

Strategic Direction

Help to ensure that the strategies the Philanthropic Services team uses are expertly executed while providing input on how to continually improve.

  • Strategically use moves management to engage donors and fund holders to increase relationships and gifts. oSystematically create and execute an engagement plan for your portfolio of fund holders and donors.
  • Review donor experience with the philanthropic services team and suggest enhancements to continue to build intimacy with donors.
  • Use the CRM system(s) to develop metrics and set goals with donors and fund holders/Perform donor analysis and devise strategies for the purpose of fund growth.

Philanthropic Projects and Other Engagement

While nurturing individual relationships, work alongside the Philanthropic Services team to encourage broader goals of community philanthropy, engaging not only donors and fund holders but the general community in philanthropy.

  • Design, develop and implement donor and fund holder events in coordination with the philanthropic services goals and in collaboration with the Philanthropic Services Team. oRepresent CFGFW at various community activities and events.
  • Collaborate with the Impact Team to identify and leverage opportunities for increasing financial support by connecting donor intent and interest with key initiatives of the Community Foundation.

General Details:Full-time; exempt

Experience: Minimum of 3 years nonprofit experience, Fundraising or Development experience preferred.

Education: College degree preferred.

Computer Skills: Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly. CRM experience preferred.

Pay range: $60,000 - $65,000

Start date: April 7th

Work schedule: This role is a flexible/ hybrid work arrangement. In-office days will be set based on team needs and organizational priorities. You’re adaptable to a flexible schedule, occasionally including evenings or weekends for special events and initiatives. In return, this position provides plenty of flexibility to support a balanced and manageable workweek.

This job is a mix—50% working with people and 50% behind a computer. You enjoy social interactions, but you’re also detail-oriented, tracking interactions and following up on next steps with the team and clients. You’re able to work independently and manage tasks without constant direction, while also being a collaborative team player, working towards a shared goal which requires regular communication with the team.
