JOB DESCRIPTION: The Community Foundation’s Donor Relations Specialist is a highly skilled, polite, dynamic, self-motivated, and community-oriented employee. The Donor Relations Specialist is responsible for working within the Donor Relations Department to execute a comprehensive strategy to nurture relationships with prospective and current donors and to deepen investment in the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville and its projects and programs. In consultation with the Director of Donor Relations, the Donor Relations Specialist will create personalized charitable solutions to fit a donor’s specific generosity strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Donor Relations Specialist is responsible for the following:
STEWARDSHIP OF EXISTING DONORS (60% donor stewardship)
· Meet annually with existing fundholders to review/report on charitable giving strategies, philanthropic impact, and ways to implement donor’s generosity plans going forward
· Cultivate and deepen relationships with existing donors through acknowledgement, recognition, and ongoing communication
· Promote Community Foundation investment opportunities, including proposals for annual operational support, and other charitable programs
· Produce documentation such as fund agreements and materials necessary to accomplish objectives
NEW DONOR CULTIVATION (DEVELOPMENT) (40% advancement)
· Collaborate with the Director of Donor Relations to implement the Fund Development Plan for the Community Foundation
· Complete one-on-one new fundholder orientation
· Work with individuals, family and corporate donors to create customized charitable strategies and funds as needed to implement their generosity plans
· Identify, cultivate, and nurture relationships with prospective donors
· Deliver presentations for potential donors
· Promote Community Foundation investment opportunities, including proposals for annual operational support, and other charitable programs
· Produce documentation such as proposals, fund agreements, grant applications, grant reports, and materials necessary to accomplish objectives
· Identify opportunities to make presentations and provide information about the Community Foundation to professional advisors, the public, and specific audiences
OTHER DUTIES
· Assist with securing Community Partners and Event Sponsorships
· Demonstrate a positive attitude and professional manner in appearance and actions while completing job requirements
· Project confidence, competence and tact when working with individuals of high-net-worth
· Manage all major gifts professionally, ethically and with discretion
EDUCATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Bachelor’s degree required
· At least three years of experience, with growing responsibilities, working with high-net-worth clients or donors
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Excellent communication skills both in person and in writing; over the telephone; or in virtual meetings using an electronic device’s camera and audio systems
· Strong interpersonal skills in working with donors, prospective donors, colleagues, and Board and Committee members
· Possess sound judgment and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
· Passion for service, philanthropy, and community
· Flexible and adaptable to changing needs
· Collaborate with Community Foundation team members to create reports, documents, marketing materials, etc. to assist the organization’s goals
· Desire to foster positive internal and external relationships
· Aptitude to successfully partner with external individuals, corporations, and organizations to plan Community Foundation presentations and informational sessions
· Strong commitment to excellence and customer service
· Ability to work independently, using diplomacy and discretion, to represent the Community Foundation in a professional manner
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of the Community Foundation’s financial, operational, and donor records
· Remain competent and current through professional development
· Comfortable with technology and willingness to learn software programs necessary to work efficiently
· Proficiency in Microsoft applications and competency to learn other software programs, such as Foundant Technologies suite of software, Microsoft Teams, and Canva that are used by the Community Foundation to manage its work
· Availability to work outside of traditional business hours, as needed
· Availability to travel locally and, occasionally, regionally, and nationally
· Contribute to the success of the Community Foundation by performing other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
