Job Description: The Behavioral Health Assistant (BHA) provides support services essential to the mission of Community Health Alliance and the Behavioral Health Department as a whole. The BHC must work in conjunction with all departments in order to deliver compassionate, high quality, affordable health care information to improve all communities quality of life. The BHA triages and schedules patients for Behavioral Health appointments with CHA Behavioral Health Providers (BHPs); completes eligibility screening for BH providers; provides appropriate community resources and referrals for patients in need; attends BH team meetings and keeps meeting records; collects appropriate BH data and trends.
Performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the Community Health Alliance (CHA) mission and philosophy.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of community resources
· Ability to operate various office equipment, such as a computer, calculator, copier, fax machine and telephone system
· Knowledge of MSOffice software; including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
· Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to special population groups as defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, etc.
· Ability to read, write legibly, hear and speak to converse over telephone and in-person.
· Demonstrated ability to perform exemplary customer service for both internal and external customers
· Ability to build relationships and communicate respectfully with supervisors and co-workers. Fosters working together as a team: dealing with and resolving conflict in a timely, efficient and positive manner
· Strong analytical and decision-making skills; including interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
· Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and medical information according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and use good judgement in making independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
· Ability to see to use computer efficiently and read computer reports and correspondence
· Ability to attend and actively participates in all health center and clinical operations meetings
· Ability to notify direct supervisor(s) of unusual occurrences and adheres to all organizational policies and government regulations regarding incident forms and/or patient complaints.
· Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license, and travel between clinic sites as needed
· Ability to lift up to 20 pounds on occasional basis

Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or GED required
· Two years of experience in a clinical administrative assistant role required.
· Fluent in English and Spanish, both verbal and written preferred.
