Sterilization Processor

The Sterilization Processor plays a critical role in maintaining patient safety by ensuring that all medical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, decontaminated, sterilized, and ready for use. This position involves collaboration with clinical staff to meet operational needs while adhering to strict infection control and sterilization protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instrument Processing: Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using approved sterilization methods.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance: Follow infection prevention and control standards, ensuring all equipment meets sterilization standards and clinic-specific protocols.
• Equipment Maintenance: Operate and perform basic maintenance on sterilization equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment tests, and inventory of supplies.
• Collaboration: Communicate effectively with clinic staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments and address immediate needs.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and restock sterilization supplies, reporting shortages to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in Central Sterile Processing (e.g., CBSPD or IAHCSMM) preferred.
• Previous experience in a healthcare sterilization or processing role is an advantage.
• Stong knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and safe handling of medical equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and a focus on patient safety.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Dexterity to handle and assemble small instruments.
