JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE : Pharmacy Technician
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for helping the Pharmacists perform daily tasks to serve customers. Their duties include filling and labeling prescriptions, interacting with customers to answer questions or give them their prescriptions and contacting customers to notify them when their prescription is ready.
REPORTS TO : Pharmacy Director
FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
1.Supports pharmacy services by stocking, preparing, and distributing medications.
2.Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them professionally, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
3.Maintains pharmacy inventory, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs. Ensures separation of 340B drug inventories as applicable.
4.Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
5.Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
6.Prepares medications for pharmacist to dispense by interpreting medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities

WORKING CONDITIONS :
While performing the required duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent when traveling between Health Center locations where medical care is provided. This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
