A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CNP or PA

You work as part of our health care team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services. After greeting patients warmly and listening to their concerns, you study their medical histories and perform physical examinations. You will then utilize appropriate and effective patient care plans; interpret and integrate data to determine the appropriate diagnostic, therapeutic plan utilizing principles of health promotion and disease prevention. There may be a need to order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays.

After making a diagnosis, you develop and implement a treatment plan which may include providing appropriate referrals for consultations. You will treat minor injuries and conduct minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, casting, mole removal, etc. Within the scope of the supervising physician's written delegated prescriptive authority, you provide prescriptions for medications to accomplish the treatment plan.

Providing patient-focused care, you always take the time to instruct and counsel with patients and their families about their treatment plan. You are also conscientious about completing appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered. Requirements :

  • Masters degree in Nursing
  • Current Un-encumbered license in South Dakota
  • State Controlled Substance Registration
  • 1 years of experience in Electronic Medical Record use.
  • Experience managing multiple projects / priorities.
  • Experience with process improvement and / or quality improvement methodologies.
