America’s First Nurse Practitioner Residency Training Program provides new NPs committed to practice careers as PCPs with an intensive training experience focused on training to clinical complexity and high performance. CHC’s NP Residency Program provides a highly structured transition experience from academic preparation to clinical practice that supports the development of confidence, competence, and mastery in primary care and the FQHC setting. This 12 month, full-time position is a unique employment and training opportunity for new NPs to start their practice career in a high performance health system in a supportive learning environment.

As a Nurse Practitioner Resident for Community Health Center, you will:
- Develop and manage a panel of primary care patients with the exclusive attention of an expert primary care provider
- Gain valuable clinical experience in primary care specialty areas including women’s health, pediatrics, orthopedics, HIV/Hep C care, healthcare for the homeless, psychiatry, newborn nursery, urgent care, and school based health centers.
- Work as part of an integrated primary care team focusing on diversity of chief complaints, efficiency, episodic and acute care.
- Participate in weekly didactic sessions focused on topics that are high volume/complexity/risk/burden and commonly seen in primary care.
- Train to a high performance Quality Improvement model including participation in a QI seminar series, front line QI improvement teams, data driven QI, and leadership development.
- Gain support and mentorship through a structured program design including a dedicated program faculty and peer support within the program cohort.
- Graduate (less than 18 months) from an accredited Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Licensed (CT APRN) and credentialed or license/credential-eligible as by program start date (September)
- Bi-Lingual Skills English/Spanish preferred
