ABOUT THE ROLE :
Under the direction of the dentist, this position promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and disease; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION :
- Provide patient screening to assess oral health conditions, review of health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection.
- Record information on dental chart.
- Take vital signs and record on chart.
- Take and develop dental radiographs
- Remove calculus and plaque from all surfaces of the teeth.
- Apply sealants and fluoride treatments.
- Instruct patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.
