Job Summary:
Under general direction of the [supervisor], the Health Information Technology (HIT) Specialist manages and maintains the administrative functions and end-user design and support of the integrated practice management (EPM), electronic health record (EHR) and electronic dental record (EDR) and Population health systems across CHC's health centers integrated network. Assist with troubleshooting interface and/or system issues. Provide technical assistance based on product knowledge and network experience with the integration of federal guidelines, meaningful use and compliance objectives. Provide vendor management for IT infrastructure and software vendors. The position will involve working with system vendors to resolve application issues.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in an office setting. There is minimal exposure to infectious disease and blood borne pathogens.
Physical Demands:
Work has different levels of physical demands. Occasional local travel between health centers and long-distance travel is required. Long periods of time may be spent at a computer terminal.
Qualifications, Education, and Knowledge:
An undergraduate degree in computer science, health information or related field is required. A combination of education and relevant work experience in Information Technology in a healthcare setting will be given consideration. Prior technical support or implementation experience with electronic health records and/or practice management applications required. Experience addressing workflow processes and technology needs. NextGen or EPIC software experience is preferred. Must possess strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Responsibilities:
I. Health Information Systems Operations
a. Manages and monitor the day-to-day administrative operations of the practice management (EPM), electronic health record (EHR) electronic dental record (EDR) and Population health systems across CHC's health centers integrated network.
b. Provides end-users with technical software product support and troubleshooting.
c. Collaborates with providers to gain knowledge on their workflow and workflow obstacles for network software products optimization.
d. Works with departmental and operational staff to identify needs and researches opportunities for improved efficiencies.
e. Performs end user workflow and design analysis and evaluates options for improvements and implementation to the software and functionalities.
f. Makes suggestions for effective, efficient use of product features to fit end-user needs within established network standards.
g. Ensures internal and external compliance for EPM, EHR and EDR software systems.
h. Collaborates with IS team members to provide complete technical solutions and improve functions as needed.
i. Interacts with NextGen/EPIC support and outside consultants to resolve issues pertaining to software and network.
II. Administrative Duties
a. Remains current of latest developments with CHC’s integrated practice management software and communicates to appropriate individuals.
b. Performs assignments within the set deadlines and regularly communicates the status of projects to appropriate individuals and Manager.
c. Attends meetings as required.
d. Develops analysis, documents and reports as required.
e. Works with systems vendors to resolve application issues as required.
III. Customer Service
a. Interacts positively with providers and end-users at all CHC sites.
b. Answers questions or assists with troubleshooting problems generated by systems software end-users.
IV. Supplemental Duties
a. Completes other duties as assigned
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
