The Community Health Law Project (CHLP) seeks a full-time Staff Attorney to join our Elizabeth, NJ regional office.
This is an opportunity to provide direct legal representation and advocacy for individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions in low-income communities.
Youβll manage a diverse caseload, engage in community outreach, and collaborate with a mission-driven team committed to social justice.
Founded in 1976, CHLP is a statewide nonprofit legal and advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals facing housing insecurity, healthcare barriers, and other civil legal challenges.
Key Areas of Legal Representation:
- Housing β landlord/tenant disputes, foreclosures
- Public Benefits β Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid/Medicare, SNAP/Welfare
- Family Law β custody, domestic violence matters
- Consumer Protection β debt collection, fraud issues
- Guardianships & Home Care Issues β including private duty nursing and personal care assistance

Qualifications:
- JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Licensed to practice in New Jersey
- Excellent legal analysis, written and oral advocacy skills
- Demonstrated interest in legal issues affecting people with disabilities
- Experience with foreclosures is a plus
