DESCRIPTION:
The Mental Health Specialist I is a member of the multi-disciplinary team who provides quality care for the Crisis Stabilization Unit patient within the therapeutic milieu. He or She provides Crisis Screening Assessments when needed. He or She works within the CSU in accordance with Standards of State and Federal Regulations. Complete interviews with clients coming into CSU and Detoxification Units, completing all paperwork required. Determine client’s eligibility for Baker Act funding. Provide patient care according to established Policies and Procedures under supervision of Clinical Coordinator and Charge Nurse. Attend daily report. Potential Exposure to mentally disturbed patients. Maintain proficiency in the use of the Patient Information System. Will be responsible for meeting with or establishing contact with families of clients when appropriate. Maintain communication with agencies and resources within the community to facilitate self-sufficiency and independence for clients. Attend monthly Staff Meetings and In-services related to the unit. Participate in Performance Improvement activities as required. Participate in D/C planning, document and update treatment plan. Maintains 80% productivity monthly. Ensure that the encounter forms are completed within the same day of intervention. Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient charts within the same day of intervention. Reports to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism. Adheres to Confidentiality Policies & Procedures/HIPAA Regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Community Mental Health or related field. Six months experience in a Mental Health setting. Maintain current CPR certification from the American Heart Association. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Screening Assessments. Ability to communicate treatment issues verbally and in writing. Candidate understands Confidentiality Laws and Patient’s Rights. Can participate in physical restraints procedures using NAPPI Techniques.
