POSITION PURPOSE:
Coordinate, implement and evaluate Nutrition Program Activities for the various CHI sites.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited College or University. One-year internship or equivalent hours of food and nutrition courses. Experience in similar health care setting desired. Two years’ experience in community nutrition. Registered Dietitian or eligible for registration in the State of Florida. Meet the requirements for membership in the American Dietetic Association (ADA). CPR Certification from the American Heart Association for BLS Health Care Providers. Knowledge of Spanish, French and Creole desired.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (THIS IS A EXEMPT POSITION)
Coordinate with the Providers the establishment of all dietary treatment plans. Provide in-depth counseling to individual patients, along with regularly scheduled nutrition classes. Assist with diabetic, weight reduction, hypertension, well-child care, and prenatal classes in providing the necessary nutritional component of these classes. Assess the nutritional needs of a particular patient population, as needed, within a health care setting. Assist in the development of departmental Policies and Procedures. Review and revise nutrition program Policies and Procedures. Interpret Nutrition Policies and Procedures for unit personnel, patients, and their families. Deliver and document patient care according to established Policies and Procedures. Record in a systematic, concise form and following the established guidelines, pertinent findings and actions taken in the patient’s medical record. Provide for professional growth of self and development of staff. Participate in appropriate continuing education, in-service training, and Performance Improvement Program and activities related to job responsibility. Maintain current CPR certification and professional registration. Organize and conduct nutrition education programs for staff. Develop and compile nutrition education material that assist in the training and education of staff and patients. Perform clinical and administrative duties in a professional manner. Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information. Recognize and respect patient’s rights and responsibilities. Provide leadership and complete assignments on time. Observe dress code and wear identification badge. Does not abuse personal days. Maintain open communications with other departments, administrative staff and community agencies and organizations. Cooperate and integrate other disciplines in the education programs developed. Participate in community programs, as assigned. Coordinate, evaluate, and implement Dietetic Services Standards. Provide technical assistance to the Cafeteria, in order to insure adequate nutritional care for CSU clients. Evaluate regular and modified menus for CSU clients. Maintain 80% productivity monthly. Reports to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism. Completes B&E (billing and encounter) forms within the same day of intervention. Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient charts within the same day of intervention. Adheres to Confidentiality Policies and Procedures / HIPPA Regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
