INTERNSHIP TYPE : Internship - Bachelor's Level
HOURS / SCHEDULE : TBD, depending on school schedule, majority of hours Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
PROGRAM / LOCATION : Hendee Road, Coventry
ABOUT THE PROGRAM : Hendee Road
Hendee Road Home is a 6 bed residential program for men with severe mental illness and are discharging from long term hospitalization. The program will address the full range of daily living needs of each individual with a focus on increasing independence and self-efficacy of individuals through 24-hour / 7-day a week staff support in the residence and the community. Staff interventions focus on teaching skills around daily living, symptom management, coping skills, medication management, health & nutrition, healthy relationships, personal safety, money management, substance use education, linking to recovery supports, and providing sober activities. Staff will also provide crisis intervention in attempt to reduce need for hospitalizations and emergency room visits.
PROGRAM OUTLINE :
By participating as a Bachelor's Level Intern with CHR, you can expect to gain firsthand experience and training related to clinical mental health & substance abuse evaluation and treatment as well as other services, including assessment, working on independent living skills, outreach treatment services and medication evaluation and monitoring.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in mental health field.
Experience : Demonstrated experience in mental health treatment preferred but not required.
Licensure / Certification / Registration : Valid driver's license
