JOB TITLE : Substance Abuse Counselor
EMPLOYMENT TYPE : Full-time, 40 hours / week
SCHEDULED HOURS : Tuesday-Saturday; 5 : 30AM-2PM
PROGRAM / LOCATION : Pathways OTP, Putnam, CT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM : PATHWAYS OTP
Pathways is an accredited Opiate Treatment Program that provides MAT (primarily methadone), individual therapy, group counseling, psycho-educational groups, individualized treatment planning, recovery coaching, and ongoing assessment and referrals.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide psychoeducation counseling and support to individuals and groups with substance use disorders, utilizing both professional training and personal recovery experience.
- Educate clients and their families about behavioral health and substance use disorders, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Coordinate and manage client care with community providers and other referral agencies to ensure comprehensive and continuous treatment in collaboration with the client's assigned clinician / therapist and clinical team.
- Meet all requirements of program contracts, including productivity, caseload management, reporting, and timeliness of client contact.
- Perform tox screens, including observed urine screens, oral swabs, and / or hair testing.
- Attend training sessions conducted by CHR staff or external consultants as requested or required.
- Actively participate as a full member of the treatment team, attending all staff meetings and team meetings.
- Perform other duties related to the position as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Associate or bachelor's degree required.
Experience : Personal experience with recovery and a commitment to supporting others on their journey is highly valued in this role. Minimum of 2 years' experience with associate's degree and (1) year experience with a bachelor's degree working in a setting with individuals with substance use problems.
Licensure / Certification / Registration : C.A.C. or C.A.D.C. preferred.
