A great job opportunity for a certified or registered Medical Assistant!

Since 1970, Community Health Services has existed to provide comprehensive health care services to the residents of Hartford and Windsor. We were made for the community, by the community, to offer a full spectrum of services to include medical, behavioral health care, dental care, a full-service pharmacy and more. Our goal is to offer our patients a medical home; a place where they can come for all of their needs; a place where the clinical staff know them by their first name. Our dedicated staff demonstrate the good we can do on a daily basis when we provide quality care with dignity to each and every individual. We want to help our patients get all of the health care they need -- when they need it -- so they may too live a healthier and happier life.

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team at Community Health Services (CHS). The Medical Assistant will help deliver comprehensive quality patient care according to standards of practice to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care in collaboration with department physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
  • Assist providers with patient preparations and procedures as needed.
  • Accurately document all aspects of patient care in the medical chart in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate patient care with team members, other departments, and community agencies as necessary.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement activities and CHS committees.
  • Adhere to all CHS’ policies and procedures regarding documentation of medication and information provided to patients.

The incumbent in this position should:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
  • Be Certified or Registered Medical Assistant from a national certifying body (e.g AAMA, NCCT, NHA, AMT)
  • Have at least two years of successful medical assisting experience in a healthcare setting, however recent certified graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Have demonstrated success delivering high quality patient care, including taking vital signs, appropriately collecting and handling specimens, and performing in-office laboratory and diagnostic tests consistent with competency level
  • Be comfortable with or be able quickly to learn electronic practice management systems
  • Have the willingness and ability to work as part of a team and to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism
  • All candidates for employment at CHS must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Spanish speaking candidates encouraged to apply

CHS requires all new employees to be vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to starting employment with CHS unless they are approved for a reasonable accommodation based on disability, medical condition, or religious belief that prevents them from being vaccinated
