Job Summary:
The Director of Business Operations serves as a key member of the executive team, participating in the strategic planning and leadership of CHWCMR. This position is instrumental in budgetary considerations and ensuring the day-to-day operational and financial health of the organization.
Essential Functions:
Oversee and Manage Non-Profit Operations:
- Human Resources: Lead HR initiatives, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
- Finance: Oversee financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting to ensure financial stability and transparency.
- Contracts: Manage grant contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance and alignment with organizational goals. Maintain and strengthen relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
- Outreach: Develop and implement outreach strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.
- Customer Service: Ensure high-quality customer service and support to all stakeholders including participants, community health workers, donors, and funders..
- Legal: Oversee legal matters, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, CHWCMR Board, and other leaders to define and refine the organization's strategic plan.
- Ensure the timely and effective execution of strategic initiatives and projects.
Organizational Leadership:
- Provide leadership that aligns with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
- Drive operational and financial performance, working closely with the Executive Director and the CHWCMR Board.
- Partner with the Executive Director and other leaders to achieve favorable financial outcomes, including profitability, cash flow, and fundraising.
- Set ambitious and achievable goals for performance and growth.
- Lead efforts in budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to support organizational priorities.
- Make informed and timely decisions based on data and insights and consider the potential impact of decisions on various stakeholders.
- Articulate ideas and expectations clearly to team members and foster open and transparent communication within the team.
- Delegate tasks effectively to team members based on their strengths and empower team members to take ownership of their responsibilities.
- Address and resolve conflicts promptly and constructively and promote a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards team members and manage one's emotions and those of others effectively.
- Adjust leadership style to suit different situations and team dynamics and embrace change and guide the team through transitions smoothly.
- Provide guidance and support to help team members grow and develop.
Compliance:
- Serve as the Compliance Officer, ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Participate in and oversee legal investigations as needed.
Risk Management:
- Develop and oversee risk mitigation plans
- Coordinate with various departments to implement risk controls.
Board of Directors:
- Actively participate in Board of Directors meetings, providing updates and insights on organizational performance and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the board is well-informed about the organization's condition and key influencing factors.
Required Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in business or related field
- 7 years: operations and financial management experience
- 3 years: director level experience
- Strong business acumen and presentation skills
- Prior non-profit experience
Preferred education and experience:
- MBA, MHA, or MPH preferred
- Effective written and communication skills in English
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Prior work with BIPOC communities
