What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Clerk III position at Community Healthcare Center?
Community Healthcare Center is seeking a focused, well-organized and detail-oriented Billing Clerk III. This person would be responsible for the following.
Participating in and overseeing scrubbing & claims acceptance by payers electronically within from date of service. Scrubbing and claim assignments are clear and measurable.
- Serving as a resource to other CHC staff in relation to coding and/or billing aspects of the practice. Serves as a mentor to other scrubbing staff and identifies performance concerns to management as applicable.
- Developing educational opportunities (in group and or one-on-one scenarios) to physicians and other medical professionals on coding/documentation standards to assure proper billing practices based on results-oriented auditing.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses.
- Review clinical documentation and records to ensure the correct codes are applied.
- Ensure codes are assigned following industry regulations and guidelines.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and other payers.
- Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims, rejections, and denials to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Consult with health care providers in a professional manner to ensure charges are submitted in a timely manner.
- Resolve billing issues and discrepancies with insurance companies and patients.
- Participate in audits and reviews to maintain coding accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain work operations and quality by following standards, policies and procedure; escalate compliance issues to supervisor.
High school diploma and at least 5 years of experience in a primary care coding environment. FQHC experience regarded favorably. Current and ongoing coding certification through AAPC highly preferred but not required. Possesses a fund of knowledge of insurance, especially Medicare and Medicaid, rules and guidelines. Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes and guidelines. Computer skills a must including Clean Data Entry, Microsoft Office Products and Email.
