What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coder - HH position at Community Healthcare System?
The Home Health Coding Specialist assigns diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT on health information records. Abstracts the coded data and other required information into the computerized information system for data collection/statistical and reimbursement purposes.
Must have current accreditation or registration as an Accredited Record Technician (RHIT) or Registered Record Administrator (RHIA) or eligible.
Must be a graduate of an approved Health Information Technology or Health Information Administration Program or equivalent.
One (1) year experience preferably in a Medical Record Department.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and deal professionally with medical staff, department heads, professional and technical personnel.
Must have knowledge of clinical pertinence evaluation methodology including data collection and display techniques. Must have good data management skills, understand basic statistical methods, basic clinical principles, and medical terminology.
Must be able to deal professionally with extremely confidential information. Self-initiative is required. Must be able to do detailed work, being extremely quality conscience.
Must have knowledge of CRT, keyboard functions and personal computer applications as the computer is used extensively in preparation of studies.
Must have working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4, HBOC, encoder EPR, Microsoft Word, and Home Care abstracting system.
New employees should be trained within their six-month probationary period.
