Medical Assistant | Longview

Job scope:  

The medical assistant position is a key position with Core Health Systems.  This position performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. This position will assist, as needed, at other Core Health Systems locations.  In addition to administrative duties, this position will perform clinical duties in accordance to state law, competency, and education.  The clinical duties will include, but not limited, to taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the provider during examinations.

Education:  High school graduate or equivalent. Ability to complete an office clinical/medical assistant competency training OR graduate of a Medical Assistant program. Certification:  Current certification by Medical Assistant certifying organization or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Position requirements: Able to read and write consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position.  Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills. Understanding of medical terminology.

Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job:

Ability and strength to sit, bend, and reach during an 8 to 10 hour day.  Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.  Sensory acuity sufficient to evaluate, treats, and monitors patient needs and maintains accurate records.  Fine motor skills sufficient to legibly document and communicate.  Routine 8 to 10 hour shifts.
