Job scope: 

Delivery of Substance Use Disorder services to clients and family members in an outpatient setting, ages 18 .  The counselor will provide services based on the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes Domains of Addiction Counseling (TAP 21) which include:  screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, counseling, service coordination, crisis intervention, client education, referral, reports and record keeping, and consultation under the supervision of a Qualified Credential Counselor (QCC).  The application of knowledge in human behavior, group dynamics, cultural diversity, alcohol and other drug abuse, human sexuality, and counseling approaches. Understanding and application of legal and administrative statutes, rules and regulations, policies and procedures of Community Healthcore and the Center's overall mission. It is vital that you maintain the TX DSHS/HHSC requirements for the Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern status including the completion and passing of the TX DSHS/HHSC Licensure Exam prior to the expiration of the LCDC Counselor Internship. Internship has four levels of Supervision: Level 1 = 0 to 1000 hours which will consist of continued supervision and observation of work with QCC on site, Level 2 = 1001 to 2000 hours which will consist of continued supervision and observation of work with more independent work performance with QCC on site, Level 3 = 2001 to 4000 hours which will consist of continued supervision and observation of work while mostly independent performance, but increased independence with QCC available by phone, Level Graduate = over 4000 hours/Passed License Exam will consist of ongoing supervision and observation of work, independent work performance with QCC available by phone. Documentation of work and supervision will be maintained by QCC and submitted to CTI Coordinator and HHSC Licensing Department. Counselor/Counselor Intern will work a flexible schedule to ensure services are available to the client served which may result in routine schedule adjustments to meet the program and client needs. 

Education/licensure:

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor or Counselor Intern.

Current valid driver's license in state of residence.

Experience/Knowledge:

 Must demonstrate knowledge and applied competency in the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes Domains of Addiction Counseling (TAP 21).  Counselor must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.  Counselor must be able to meet all CMBHS requirements for documentation entry. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and able to type at a minimum 30 WPM. Knowledge and or training in Specialized Female Services preferred but not required
