Description
- Strong understanding of science content and pedagogy, particularly inquiry and phenomena based instruction
- Ability to instruct students in developing their skills within the Science and Engineering Principles
- Ability to differentiate instruction for a variety of student needs
- Ability to collaborate with teachers within and outside of the science department
- Interest in engaging in the whole school community, including serving on committees, sponsoring extracurricular activities or coaching.
- Plan and deliver engaging Biology and Chemistry lessons tailored to English Learners (ELs).
- Differentiate instruction to meet language proficiency levels while ensuring rigorous science content.
- Utilize research-based EL strategies to support language acquisition and comprehension.
- Collaborate with EL and Science department teams to align instruction and best practices.
- Assess student progress in both scientific understanding.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and support staff to promote student success.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsements in Science – Biology, Chemistry, and EL/Bilingual Education (or willingness to obtain EL endorsement).
- Experience working with multilingual learners is preferred.
