What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Coach (SY 25-26) position at COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL?
Primary Purpose:
The Instructional Coach collaborates with classroom teachers to support District academic initiatives and student learning. They provide training to improve teaching practices and student academic achievement through (1) effective lesson planning based on state content standards (2) effective instructional strategies, methods, and skills, and (3) the use of data and analyzing student work to drive decision-making and instructional practices. The Instructional Coach provides individual and group job-embedded professional development to expand and refine effective lesson design and instructional practices.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s Degree in education or related field, preferred
- Teacher certification
- Evidence of proficient teacher evaluations
- Evidence of increases in student achievement
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrates an ability to work collaboratively
- Able to build positive trusting relationships with al staff
- Evidence of leadership qualities and skills
- Specific knowledge of appropriate grade level or specified content area
- General knowledge of all content areas
- Knowledge of the academic development of students
- Ability to disaggregate and use data to drive decision-making
- Knowledge and understanding of current research-based instructional strategies
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years classroom teaching experience with successful performance evaluations
- Experience working with adult learners
- Experience in planning and leading professional development at the campus or district level
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instruction
- Collaborate with District and campus leadership on curriculum, instruction, professional development and assessment.
- Facilitate ongoing team and/or grade level campus planning sessions, including PLCs and individual classroom lesson planning.
- Research and provide resources and instructional strategies to ensure effective teaching and learning.
- Analyze district and campus data to assist with development of campus and individual teacher goals.
Job-Embedded Professional Growth
- Work with District and campus leadership to provide school-based ongoing professional development and support for the implementation of research-based strategies.
- Model effective instructional strategies and conduct classroom visits with follow-up opportunities for collaborative reflection.
- Provide focused, sustained training that assists teachers in meeting data-driven, collaboratively determined instructional goals.
Professional Learning Network
- Participate regularly in leadership meetings and professional development sessions.
- Participate in PD sessions with Instructional Coaches for continuous improvement.
- Create and maintain a learning community at the campus to support teaching and learning.
- Work with district level staff to collaborate on professional development planning and instructional needs.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by District and campus leadership.
Intended Outcomes and Success Measures:
- Close the achievement gap between all students and the sub populations on the campus.
- Improve overall student performance in identified areas.
- Increase Professional Learning opportunities and participation of staff across the district.
- Improvement in teaching practices during Tier 1 instruction.
