Music Teacher - Band Director (ANTICIPATED)
Band Director - Vernon Hills High School
Requirements :
Illinois Secondary Teaching Certificate
Must be endorsed and highly qualified in instrumental music
Responsibilities :
- Course load includes three curricular band ensembles, assisting with the Symphony Orchestra, and sectionals
- Lead extra-curricular Pep-Bands and Jazz Bands
- Lead all aspects of the band program, including communication with families and students, trip planning and approval, calendar development / management, recruiting and retention, curriculum development and renewal, financial management, and public relations
- Maintain and enhance the regionally and nationally recognized excellence of the band program at Vernon Hills High School
- Work with all students to maximize their unique potential and utilize music education and performance as a means to enhance the overall success for a student in high school
- Communicate with parents, students, middle school teachers, and colleagues regularly regarding ongoing department management processes and the vision for instrumental music in the community
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to support a rigorous curriculum
- Actively participate in professional learning team initiatives
- Maintain an active role in state, regional, or national professional development organizations
Qualifications :
Applicant screening will begin immediately.
Select candidates will be asked to submit a 3-5 minute video teaching sample and three audio recordings of ensembles they have directed which demonstrates a representative sample of their ensemble leadership.
