Title: Residential Supervisor

Reports to: Program Manager/ Director of Program Services

The Residential Supervisor receives oversight and direction from the HCS Program Manager with ultimate reporting responsibility to the Director of Programs and Services. This person provides direct supervision, training and care to individuals served by CHAI programs in the residential support group home.

The Residential Supervisors job performance will be rated on the following outcomes and performance measures:

Performance Measures as they relate to the Individuals needs are:

A. Supervises Direct Care Professionals in the residential group homes and participates in Annual Performance Reviews of staff.

B. Participates in Individuals Service/Person Directed Plan(s) for residents, upon invitation, and actively participates in the ongoing process on behalf of the resident.

C. Conducts the resulting training and documents that training accurately. Reports concerns regarding training and services to the appropriate individual.

D. Assists with transportation or training to obtain transportation.

E. Responds to individuals, family or guardians concerns in a timely manner and reports concerns to appropriate staff as well. Documents necessary communication in a proper and timely manner.

F. Follows on-call procedure to insure timely communication of emergency needs.

G. Participates in necessary staff / house meetings and keeps apprised of resident updated information and needs. Informs self and others of updates through logs and computer updates.

H. Participates in the development of daily routines with resident input and communicates changes to schedule as necessary to assure continuity. Communicates any and all information clearly across shifts and programs to meet the needs of the individual.

I. Assures residents privacy. Understands and respects residents privacy with respect to personal information, records, and confidences. Understands where and with whom to share that information.

J. Understands and assures that equipment and household is maintained in good repair and the process for reporting repairs and replacement of household items.

K. Assures that all residents have full opportunity to participate in the life of their community and culture.

L. Enables the residents to demonstrate the right to competence in their environments by being representative of a norm. That they have enough money, are on time, are dressed properly, etc.

M. Assures that people are respected and that they are free from abuses of any kind. Staff will follow proper procedures when any abuses are noted or suspected.

N. Notifies Program Manager/Director of any medical need. Acts in an emergency to call 911.

In addition to the above, the Residential Supervisor is expected to:

1. Assist residents with financial transactions as assigned.

2. Maintain the household petty cash and make responsible budget conscious purchases for groceries and supplies as assigned.

3. Assist with planning special CHAI events and participate in these events when they fall within their scheduled work time.

4. Become familiar with the required standards of the programs including but not limited to: HHSC, HCS Waiver, DMS, Life Safety, or Jewish Custom as it relates to the people served.

5. Conduct any/all safety drills as required and document the results as per standards.

6. Demonstrate competence in driving the agency vehicle and show insurability. Provide a valid Texas Drivers License. Maintain current insurance on own vehicle.

7. Must demonstrate competence in all areas of required training for position such as CPR, first aid, SAMA, Self Administration of Medication, documentation, behavioral principles, and those required by licensure of home.

8. Must be able to bend, lift, stoop and assist all residents in their care and daily living activities as a requirement of the job.

9. Must meet and maintain a criminal history void of offenses listed on the HHSC list of non-allowable offenses, offenses that represent a pattern of negligent fiduciary responsibility, or any behavior represented on the Employee Misconduct Registry annually.

10. Assists with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Employees must have and present a high school diploma or equivalency OR a Bachelors degree in Health & Human Services or related fields is preferred.

They must have three years verifiable work experience working with people with developmental disabilities.

They must be 18 years old, meet and maintain the criteria (6-9) listed above.
