Community Horizons is assisting a Nekoosa family with recruiting a caregiver for their adult nonverbal autistic son in his home. This includes working 1:1 while providing comfort, safety, and supervision while learning the member's unique preferences and personality.

Wage: $16.32 per hour

Current Coverage Needs:

· A team member willing to assist in times of need for pick shifts to cover current staff vacations, sickness, etc.

· This position could turn into a part-time/full-time position in the future due to some current staffing changes being reviewed

Usual Hours In The Home: (for reference and subject to change)

· Monday – Friday = 8am - 4pm, 4pm -10pm, 10pm – 8am

· Weekends = 8am -12pm, 12pm – 10pm, 10pm – 8am

Tasks include but are not limited to:

· All activities of daily living for personal care as needed

• General Housekeeping
• Meal Prep
• Activities within the home and community during any daytime hours
• Oversight at night- this will be an awake shift for the safety of the member

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

· Experience with autism is preferred but not required

· Willingness to learn and understand the needs of this member

· Patience, understanding, and willingness to let things just roll off your shoulders

· Preferred to have first aid or choking training

· Has experience or the ability to recognize seizures

· Flexibility to pick up a variety of shifts when in need

· Has a valid driver's license

· Favorable background check

Community Horizons offers support for individuals enrolled in self-directed programs through Managed Care Organizations or IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct) throughout Wisconsin. Self-direction gives program participants a choice over who provides services and how they receive them.
