What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daily Living Skills Trainer position at Community Horizons LLC?
Community Horizons is so excited to have the privilege of partnering with local families working toward a common goal of supporting their very special children at home. To offer the best support possible we are seeking professionals who have a passion for children with diverse needs and abilities, mentoring, and teaching.
This position involves working with a young girl with special needs in her home to learn to follow routines that will help keep her body clean and healthy as well as keeping her environment tidy. This position will involve coordinating with local agencies and the family to foster best practices and habits.
Position Details:
Hours: Monday-Friday 345p-8p.
Pay: $20-$23/hour
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a sustainable routine for an elementary-aged child.
- Support with household tasks, including making the bed, and organizing and cleaning personal spaces.
- Prompt and provide hands-on assistance with personal care tasks (bathing, brushing hair and teeth, nail care, etc).
- Foster positive relationships with siblings.
- Redirect challenging behaviors as necessary.
- Maintain rapport and accountability with the individual in care.
Requirements:
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are mandatory.
- Candidates must be able to pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check.
- A genuine enjoyment of working with youth is essential.
- Previous professional experience in caregiving is required, with a preference for those with backgrounds in ABA therapies, paraprofessional roles, educational support, behavioral techs., childcare, and similar fields.
- High personal standards of professionalism are expected.
- Honesty and reliability are crucial attributes for candidates.
