This role entails providing support to a young man with special needs in his home environment. You will focus on developing essential daily living skills and establishing routines that promote independence and safety. Collaboration with the family will be key to implementing and maintaining best practices.
This position can be tailored to suit either part-time or full-time availability, depending on the needs of the candidate.
Please note that this is a dog-friendly home.
Position Details:
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 3pm-830pm
*Weekend opportunities are available.
*Overnight respite opportunities are available.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a sustainable routine for a young man entering adulthood.
- Support with household tasks, including packing lunch, preparing snacks, and organizing and cleaning personal spaces.
- Prompt personal care tasks (bathing, brushing hair and teeth, nail care, etc).
- Provide companionship, mentorship, and supervision.
- Maintain rapport and accountability with the individual in care.
Requirements:
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are mandatory.
- Candidates must be able to pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check.
- A genuine enjoyment of working in the special needs community.
- Previous professional experience in caregiving is required, with a preference for those with backgrounds in ABA therapies, paraprofessional roles, educational support, behavioral techs., childcare, and similar fields.
- High personal standards of professionalism are expected.
- Honesty and reliability are crucial attributes for candidates.
