The Pediatric RN Baylor provides home health for direct patient care for infants up through young adults. S/he follows the nursing plan of care and offers medication administration as designated by a primary RN/Admission/Liaison RN for care.
Position Details
- Days/Hours: Saturday and Sunday (8am-8pm), plus one M-F weekday (day) to be agreed upon, 8:30am - 5:00pm, based on organizational needs; 32 hours a week.
- Work Location: Home health around Duval County and surrounding areas
- Patient Volume: Usually 3-5 patient visits a day
- Compensation: $60,000 annual base salary plus additional shift differential pay, and paid driving mileage. Full benefits package, including 23 days annual PTO.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follows Nursing Plan of Care for total patient care, including bathing, ambulation, feeding, administration of medications/treatments, and related death/discharge administration.
- Provides documentation in relation to medication and narcotic administration; demonstrates accountability by providing destruction of medications following for any patient deaths.
- Administers pediatric medication administration and managers adverse reactions of any medication interactions.
- Administers working knowledge of central and peripheral IV lines, pumps, IV medication administration and TPN.
- Implements documentation relevant to continuous care criteria and death/discharge process.
- Charts patient condition/changes every 2 hours during shift.
- Supervises and ensures all pediatric patient/family needs are met, including patient care in accordance with Physician’s orders/Plan of Care
- Ensures use and understanding of universal patient precautions and adheres to infection control policies/procedures.
- Provides a safe environment for patients, consulting with the patient’s Physician and Primary RN/ Continuous Care and or supervisor when necessary
- Provides and reviews family teaching per plan of care
- Attends Pediatric department team meetings and support meetings
- Pursues professional growth through academic and continuing education programs.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Minimum qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or diploma from a nursing program
- Two (2) years experience in acute care setting, oncology, or home health care setting, minimum; Pediatric experience preferred
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of nursing
Skilled at:
- Teaching, communication and listening skills, assessment skills, central/peripheral IV skills, working within the framework of a multidisciplinary team.
