Chief Nursing Officer

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for nursing practice and patient care at Morehouse General Hospital. The CNO provides expert professional assistance in nursing-related matters and supports other areas under their leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategy development and high-level decision-making
• Financial forecasting and budget accountability
• Quality, safety, and staff and patient engagement
• Inspiring and approving models of nursing care delivery

Collaboration and Leadership:

The CNO works closely with hospital management and stakeholders to ensure patients receive safe and effective care. They promote relationships among community organizations to improve patient outcomes and health in the communities served.

Operational Excellence:

The CNO oversees multiple departments' operations and designated projects to achieve goals and objectives. They prioritize objectives and implement strategies to achieve organization initiatives as part of the executive leadership team.

Nursing Environment and Practice:

The CNO establishes mechanisms to support nurses in shared governance and decision-making structures and processes. They create and sustain an environment for the professional practice of nursing that meets Magnet status criteria.

Quality and Safety:

The CNO ensures management teams conduct root cause analyses and implements continuous improvement plans. They monitor and ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and standards.

Recruitment and Retention:

The CNO collaborates with Human Resources to develop and implement leading edge recruitment and retention strategies and innovative management systems to drive low turnover and vacancy rates in nursing.
