Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation.
- Develops programs and services, in accordance with Community’s goals and objectives, and in collaboration with Director of Respiratory Therapy.
- Collaborates with various disciplines and teams to effectively implement programs and services.
- Continually evaluates and assesses the needs of the targeted patient population.
- Develops, implements, and updates guidelines, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensures all policies are in compliance with various regulatory standards.
- Coordinates the provision of educational programs by specialized staff.
- Markets and promotes the program to physicians and the community.
- Develops, presents, implements and manages new product lines in accordance with marketing strategies, and quality improvement initiatives consistent with customer and Community Hospital needs.
Supervision and Support:
- Manages patient experience program, resolves issues and makes recommendation for changes in approach and operations.
- Develops, revises, and maintains patient experience program that ensures highest degree of patient satisfactions and helps resolve problems/issues.
- Supervises daily operations of programs and services.
- Completes variance reporting, staff hours justification, and overall expense monitoring.
- Coordinates with other disciplines pertinent education for patients and staff.
- Supervises staff. Schedules staff and coordinates various daily activities.
- Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers internal and external to the program.
- Coaches and counsels’ staff to ensure proficiency in technical and special skills related to their area of clinical practice.
- Identifies opportunities for growth or learning in staff.
- Establishes required annual competencies and coordinates in-service and education needed to meet changing practices of the program.
- Performs ongoing assessment of, and discussion of performance with staff.
Clinical:
- Performs basic, routine and specialized tasks for patients’ success in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Programs.
- Coordinates and/or Conducts new participant orientations.
- Performs initial assessment of patients and develops plan of care.
- Monitors patients during exercise program, to include EKG monitoring.
- Provides instructions to patients on proper technique and self- monitoring methods.
- Reviews patient progress and makes recommendations on cardiac/pulmonary rehab exercises.
- Assists with development of exercise programs.
- Instructs and educates patients and their family regarding disease management and prevention
- Writes daily progress, summary and discharge reports.
- Assists in obtaining medical history, orders, and other necessary paperwork for new participants
- Performs other duties related to the program such as insurance coordination, verification, certification, filing and monitoring as necessary.
- Recruits and contacts potential program participants (to include, when feasible, in hospital approaching of patient).
Other:
- Participates on inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating program knowledge as appropriate.
- Provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees.
- Maintains equipment and supplies.
- Assists with community programs for health promotion such as health fairs
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology is required.
- At least 1 year of experience in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation programs is required.
- Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist is required.
- Previous supervisor experience preferred.
- Program development and evaluation experience preferred.
Compensation:
- $30.00-34.50 per hour, depending on education and experience.
