Pharmacy techs at Community Hospital help assist the pharmacist in the pharmaceutical care services of the hospital. Prepares and processes medication under the supervision of a pharmacist, checks nursing units for proper medication storage, repackages and labels medications. Orders, stocks and transports pharmaceutical supplies according to pharmacy policy and procedure. Responds to patients, families, visitors and employees in a courteous, collaborative manner. Able to perform mathematical calculations necessary for compounding. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Procures and distributes medication orders per pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment.
- Maintains adequate Omnicell medication stock throughout the Hospital.
- Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile products accurately.
- Rotates medication stock ensuring appropriate removal of expiring items.
- Procures controlled substances while keeping inventory balanced.
- Assists in answering the phone and directs call or communication to the pharmacist.
- Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.

- Reports to: Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Director

Licensures & Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- One year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred. Permit as a Pharmacy Technician by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy when eligible.
- Moderately proficient in the use of computer keyboard/terminal, 10-key electronic calculator by touch, 20-30 wpm typing required.

High exposure to hazardous risks including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment and chemicals. Must follow standard precautions. May be required to work weekends or other schedule to meet pharmacy needs. Travel may be required. Exposed to weather conditions during travel.
