What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Scheduler - Full time position at Community Hospital?
Responsible for scheduling patients for surgery. Obtains information needed for scheduling. Schedules according to the physician block time. Notifies departments and anesthesia if surgery date / time is rescheduled and updates all as necessary. Responsible for imputing patient information into the computer. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned. Works closely with OR manager and surgery director regarding scheduling conflicts.
Essential Functions :
- Schedule surgeries.
- Answers telephone and dispatches calls as necessary.
- Contacts all designated personnel in the case of any scheduling changes such as cancellations, additions, or time changes.
- Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.
- Reports to : Assistant Director of Nursing Perioperative Services and / or Director of Nursing Perioperative Services
- Supervises : none
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- One year experience in a related field preferred.
- Medical Terminology preferred.
- Excellent customer service and computer skills required.
- Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull) : Sedentary (exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally)
- Standing / Walking : Occasionally; activity exists up to 1 / 3 of the time
- Keyboard / Dexterity : Constantly; activity exists 2 / 3 or more of the time.
