The objective of this position is to provide support and education to residents to improve their financial well-being. The Financial Coach is responsible for meeting people where they are at financially, whether it be to : (a) address a current financial crisis; (b) meet their day-to-day financial obligations; or (c) plan for the future. The Financial Coach is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of Achieve's Financial Well-being Programs. With a focus on improving the long-term financial behavior of CHW residents, the Financial Coach facilitates residents to set and achieve financial goals largely on their own; helps residents practice new behaviors and monitors those behaviors over time; and targets residents with a minimum level of financial skills and experience.

Role & Responsibilities :

  • Delivers effectively and efficiently Financial Well-being Programs :

Financial Stability. Through our Rental Home Stability Program (RHSP), financial coaches help residents facing financial hardship regain financial stability and prevent eviction.

  • Financial Security. Through our Youth Financial Literacy Program and Credit Strengthening Program, financial coaches help residents gain the knowledge and take action to effectively manage their money and make positive financial choices to gain financial security, including budgeting, credit building, debt reduction and increase savings.
  • Financial Mobility. Through our Financial Health Club, financial coaches help residents to not only increase their income, but also build wealth and assets that are critical in advancing economic self-sufficiency and financial mobility, including : long-term savings, buying a house, purchasing a vehicle, starting a business, investing for education, or a retirement plan.
  • Provides personalized financial coaching sessions, determines participant's individualized plan of action relevant to the individual's situation.
  • Analyzes and evaluates resident finances to determine housing affordability
  • Makes appropriate referrals for residents as a support system to carry out their action plan.
  • Enters data related to coaching participant in the designated database using organization guidelines and procedures.
  • Travels to various CHW rental communities throughout the state as assigned.
  • Fosters coach / participant relationships by providing ongoing support via individual, email, phone, or virtual coaching to assist participants in overcoming barriers, providing ongoing referrals or celebrating milestones and successes.
  • Offers coaching and classes in English and Spanish as needed.
  • Facilitates classes and workshops utilizing adult and youth education and participatory training strategies
  • Utilizes educational materials developed by CHW and / or other organizations approved by direct supervisor.
  • Responsible for following all intake, program, guidelines, including data entry, collection of fully completed registration forms, funds, materials, and equipment
  • Actively participates in outreach activities with other members of the Achieve Team.
  • Works collaboratively with other Financial Coaches to assure effective and efficient coordination of delivery of financial well-being services.
  • Works collaboratively with property management to assure achievement of shared project-specific goals.
  • Ensures the consistent following of Program procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Assures completion of monthly and quarterly summary reports including tracking, reviewing, and analyzing data.
  • On-time completion of administrative duties such as timesheets, CCERs, data entry, reporting, and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Engage actively in our partnership activities workshops and collaboration with onsite staff and program managers.
  • Participate in trainings and conference to stay up to date with financial certificate requirements and stay up to date with industry trance and best practices.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in social science, business, education, economics, psychology, human development, or related fields.
  • Two or more years of work experience in personalized coaching or counseling desirable
  • Financial Coach Certification with NeighborWorks America is preferred, training will be provided.
  • Experience working with diverse and low-income populations
  • Experience working in affordable housing-related environments desirable
  • Experience in the following areas : Financial planning, credit, and financial education
  • Experience in the facilitation of adult training / classes or related field
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks. Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with self-direction and in team setting
  • Able to work flexible schedule which include : days, evenings and weekends
  • Physical Abilities :

    The physical abilities to perform tasks may require prolonged sitting, standing and / or moving.

    Moves throughout the various office spaces, outdoor spaces and building to access areas of resident services. Involves moving on surfaces of various inclinations and ground textures.

    Moves equipment weighing between 20-40 pounds without assistance. Moves more than 40 pounds with assistance.

    This role requires inspection of sites and areas at varying degrees of distance.

    Work Environment :

    The noise and climate level in the work environment varies depending on the work site, including outdoor work environments. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with different abilities to perform the roles and responsibilities of this position.

    Compensation :

    It may vary based on skills, experience and qualifications

    24.00 - $28.00
