The Support Counselor I (part-time) role entails providing supervision to program clients, facilitating programming, assisting with staff scheduling, documenting client activity, and ensuring a clean and safe environment at all times. Candidates must possess a strong sense of responsibility and knowledge of program rules, coupled with demonstrated problem-solving skills to handle diverse situations. Working within defined limits and subject to direct instruction, Support Counselor I should be adept at relating to individuals from various backgrounds and possess sufficient understanding of homelessness, substance use disorders, and mental health challenges to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Flexible availability for day, evening, weekday, and weekend shifts is required, with additional support provided in other areas of daily program functioning as designated by the Program Officer or Senior Program Officer.
Essential Duties: Perform regular room and facility checks to ensure client safety and well-being. Assist clients with daily independent living skills such as cooking and cleaning. Ensure clients adhere to approved timeframes for outings and clients follow program guidelines. Clean and organize the business office as required. Contact staff in emergencies involving clients or facility. Assist in searching incoming clients’ belongings to remove contraband. Log incoming medications and create new medication logs. Assist with client check-in process, meal service, mail distribution, and program activities. Maintain confidentiality in dealing with client and staff matters. Perform routine cleaning duties. Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills and other duties as assigned.
Pay $21-$25.53 per hour D.O.E, additional 5% bilingual stipend (Spanish).
