Safe Haven Afterschool Counselor

Job Summary
The Afterschool Counselor is responsible for supervising and engaging students in educational, recreational, and enrichment activities. This role requires creativity, patience, and strong organizational skills to deliver a safe and enriching experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of students during program hours.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Provide academic support, including homework assistance.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and teamwork.
• Manage behavior using positive reinforcement strategies and program guidelines.
• Assist with meal/snack distribution and cleanup as needed.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and complete required reports.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Skills

• Experience working with children in various capacities such as camp settings, daycare, babysitting, or sports coaching is highly valued.
• Strong classroom management skills to effectively engage with students in a school environment.
• Ability to educate and tutor students across different elementary subjects or areas of need.
• Familiarity with first aid practices to ensure the safety of all students during school activities.
• Excellent communication skills to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Empathy and active listening skills to understand student concerns effectively.

Schedule

Monday through Friday: 2:30pm-6:00pm

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 17 – 20 per week

• Afternoon shift
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:
