Project Career Launch at Drexel University is a school-to-work transition program to prepare young adults on the autism spectrum for career-focused employment. The program adopts the framework and program principles of The Learning Academy at the University of Southern Florida. Participants engage in self-discovery and career exploration through peer mentoring, community-based learning and internships.
Through an expanded partnership with the Community College of Philadelphia students may also have the opportunity to take dual enrollment coursework and participate in further education. Upon program completion, students will either be employed or connected to further training/education relating to their personal career plan.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide aspirational job development and placement services as part of Project Career Launch program team. Identify student interns’ strengths, interests and abilities related to career counseling, job development, and placement at the Project Career Launch host business or a community employer. Determine what supports and/or adaptations may be needed for training and successful employment.
- Work part time on site at :Project Career Launch
- Work closely with the: Project Career Launch team
- Maintain a good working relationship with our program partners (Drexel University/School District of Philadelphia)
- Be able to manage their time to place all students by the: Project Career Launch deadline
- Create new relationships and maintain existing relationships with internship sites
- Support high school age students (ages 18-21 years old)
- Maintain an additional development caseload as student numbers ebb and flow
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred (BS or BA, four year college or technical school).
- 1 plus years of experience in Education, Social Services or Business preferred.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Possess valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
- Must have access to an automobile and internet access at home.
- Must be able to pass all required background checks.
- Must be fully vaccinated or in the process of getting fully vaccinated.
