About Us:
The Community Law Program (CLP) is a non-profit civil legal aid organization committed to the principle of providing access to justice for all. Our mission is to empower the most vulnerable in our community through the provision of pro bono legal assistance and representation, education about legal rights and responsibilities, and community outreach. We have a small staff, and we serve a high volume of people each year.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Intake Specialist to join our team. The Intake Specialist plays a pivotal role in our organization by being the navigator and first point of contact for clients seeking legal assistance. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to the provision of high-quality legal services to the most vulnerable members of our community, with kindness and dignity.
Qualifications:

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
o Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively, while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
o A commitment to the provision of high-quality legal services to the most vulnerable members of our community, with kindness and dignity.
o Ability to maintain confidentiality with regards to all activities of the Community Law Program.
o Proficiency in word processing, data entry, and other office computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
o Ability to learn and use legal server software effectively.
o Must pass background check prior to hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Experience in client intake, customer service, administrative support roles
o Familiarity with legal terminology or previous experience in a legal setting.
o Associates degree and/or 2 years of work experience with a non-profit organization or in customer service.
Illustrative Duties:
o Conduct initial client intake interviews, either in-person, over the phone, or through online platforms.
o Assist clients with completing intake forms and documentation required for assistance.
o Screen and assess potential clients for eligibility based on program criteria and legal guidelines.
o Gather relevant information about clients' legal issues, assess their immediate needs and urgency, and prioritize cases accordingly.
o Promptly welcome and assist guests, and answer screen and forward incoming calls.
o Provide information about CLP's services, eligibility criteria, and available resources to clients.
o Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in the case management system (legal server).
o Collaborate with staff and volunteer teams to ensure seamless intake processes, client referrals, and services.
o Provide referrals to partner organizations for services, such as relocation assistance and other basic needs, rapid rehousing, rental assistance, and legal assistance.
o Assist fellow CLP teammates as a utility player as may be requested or necessary, including performing clerical/support duties and outreach activities.
