Meat Cutter's are responsible for achieving the sales, profitability, and growth objectives outlined by the market manager and store management through carrying out company policies, procedures, merchandising programs, and the maintenance of good customer relations.
Responsibilities:
- Sees that all products are properly prepared (cutting and trimming), wrapped, priced, and merchandised.
- Receives and checks all meat deliveries upon arrival to see that all merchandise is in good condition and that the correct quantities and weights are received.
- Assists in planning special promotions and displays.
- Is responsible for signage, correct weights (tare and packaging), and pricing.
- Ensures all merchandise is rotated according to code dating policy.
- Is responsible for keeping the cases full.
- Keeps meat department fixtures, equipment, and area clean, sanitized, and free from accident hazards at all times.
- Handles all store property and equipment in such a manner as to secure maximum use.
- Perform freshness checks and recondition products.
- Maintains a high level of product knowledge and merchandising ability to accomplish the meat department goals.
- Keeps records as requested.
- Orders meat products as requested.
- Operate saws, tenderizers, slicers, scales, grinders, and labeling machines.
- Assist customers and employees.
- Prepare, weigh, package, and price, stock merchandise and rotate product to department standard.
- Operate telephones and intercoms and practice proper telephone etiquette.
- Follow all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the department manager or store director.

A Meat Wrapper is responsible for wrapping, packaging, correct weights, weighing, pricing, stocking, freshness, sanitation, and rotation of fresh meat, lunchmeat, and frozen meat.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures all products are properly wrapped, packaged, and labeled.
- Is responsible for correct weights (tare) and pricing in scale.
- Is responsible for keeping the meat cases full, fresh, and signed.
- Rotates product; watches code dates.
- Is responsible for correct pricing, shelf tags, and price changes.
- Keeps meat department fixtures, equipment and area clean, sanitized and free from accident hazards.
- Is knowledgeable in the usage of wrapping equipment, scale, labeler, and the wrapping station functions.
- Performs freshness checks on all department products.
- Reports any damaged equipment to the meat manager.
- Maintains courteous and friendly customer relations.
- Handles special customer requests and complaints in the absence of the meat manager or journeyman cutter.
- Orders product when requested.
- Operate slicers, scales, tenderizers, knives, safety cutters, and price marking devices.
- Operate hydraulic baler.
- Maintain department sanitation standards.
- Operate telephones and intercoms and practice proper telephone etiquette.
- Follows all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
Physical Demands:

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, bend over, lift, or operate office equipment. Based on the project, extended periods of walking and standing at any given time.
- Required to lift up to 50 lbs. to shoulder height. Lift and stack up to 100 pounds.
- Pull or push wheeled vehicles weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
- Reach and stock products up to 6 ft. high.
- Work in a refrigerated prep room and walk-in cooler for extended periods.
- Work in a walk-in freezer for periods of up to 30 minutes.
