Summary
APRNs diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team. May focus on health promotion and disease prevention. APRNs work under the direct supervision of a physician.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform annual evaluations on patients and ensure preventative procedures take place.
2. Diagnose and treats illnesses or injuries.
3. Prescribe medication under the direct supervision of the attending MD.
4. Order, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests.
5. Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, and preventive healthcare.
6. Implement a plan of treatment, including diagnostic studies results.
7. Determine final diagnosis.
8. Work with staff to ensure that the medical needs of the patients are met.
9. Ensure that the patient meets the medical admission criteria.
10. Act as liaison with other physicians.
11. Participate in the Quality Assurance of the medical documentation.
12. Participate in the utilization review of the billing process.
13. Directly supervise the work of medical assistants and phlebotomists.
14. Keep medical record documentation according to the State and Federal regulations and their guidelines.
15. Participate in preparation of super bills.
16. Perform duties in honest and ethical manner.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
