The System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting servers, networks, and applications, as well as implementing updates, backups, and security measures. The System Administrator works closely with IT teams and end-users to provide technical support, resolve system issues, and contribute to the overall IT strategy. Participation in 24x7 on-call support is provided based on organizational IT staff rotation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and software applications.
- Perform routine system monitoring to ensure system availability, performance, and capacity planning.
- Assist with managing cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, monitoring, and optimizing cloud resources.
- Manage virtualized environments using tools like VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.
- Monitor and maintain storage systems, including SAN/NAS devices.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory and related systems.
- Provide technical support for end-users, resolving issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Maintain and deploy endpoint management solutions for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Apply patches, updates, and hotfixes to servers, applications, and operating systems.
- Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Identify areas for improvement in the IT infrastructure and recommend upgrades or changes.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and departments on cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices to enhance system performance and security.
- Develop and manage backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Test recovery procedures regularly to confirm readiness for system restoration.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
- Recommends process changes that improve the implementation, maintenance and support of CMG IT desktop equipment and software
- Effectively works with customers, Service Desk and Technical Services personnel
- Participates in meetings, committees, and continuing education to improve individual, departmental and organizational performance.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role.
Certifications Preferred:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner
- CompTIA Server , Network , or Security .
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar.
- Linux certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified System Administrator - RHCSA).
