Job Summary: Plans and directs a comprehensive public relations program for the facility. The public relations program promotes all activities, programs and special projects of the facility. Promotes a positive relationship with the local community. Promotion and advocacy of Community Memorial Healthcare, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including the main hospital, three medical clinics, Home Health Agency, and a durable medical equipment store.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and update CMH web site, Facebook page, and Screen Cloud.
Planning and/or promotion of hospital sponsored health awareness and educational programs like CMH Health Fair, CMH Kindergarten tours, Loss of a Child Grief Support Group and Memory Service, Henry Hoppenstedt Nursing Scholarship.
Planning and participating in community events sponsored by other organizations such as Leadership Marshall County, Memorial Day Services, Marysville Chamber of Commerce Mixers, Black Squirrel Night, etc.
Planning and preparation of community health needs assessment and implementation plan (in conjunction with Thrive Marshall County, a community wellness coalition).
Solicitation and procurement of speakers for monthly Sterling Connection Lunch Bunch program series.
Creation and coordination of all media relations with local and area newspapers, radio (KNDY, KUTT, KCLY), and TV stations (Blue Valley Telecommunication), including press releases, ads and radio spots for hospital sponsored programs, special features, articles, etc.
Design and production of monthly Outpatient Calendars, both for in-house distribution and to area medical clinics.
Design and publication of hospital employee newsletter (Heartbeat).
Design and print brochures, flyers, posters, and medical documents for in-house and public use; design and ordering of corporate stationery.
Work with professional, administrative and support staff to plan and implement employee events, e.g. Doctors’ Day, and departmental activities (e.g. breast cancer awareness month).
Communications with local and regional businesses to execute promotional healthcare marketing, including design and development of corporate brand materials, e.g. stationery, brochures, appointment and business cards, etc.
Procurement of promotional and gift items for internal and external audiences, etc.
Manage and maintain telephone directory advertising (via BVK Direct) for CMH and its subsidiaries.
Serve as a member of Team CMH, an in-house committee of staff members responsible for planning and implementing activities for CMH employees.
Represent hospital as a business partner in the community by membership in organizations like Marysville Chamber of Commerce.
Attend educational workshops and/or professional meetings (e.g. Heartland Health Alliance) as required.
Professional Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or related field.
Minimum of three to five (5) years experience in Public Relations, experience in healthcare preferred.
Skills:
Able to communicate effectively in writing or verbally. Excellent presentation skills and public speaking skills.
Computer skills- Microsoft Office, Photoshop
