What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN Med/Surg position at Community Memorial Hospital?
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Promotes the patient’s health by completing the nursing process.
- Takes vital signs, monitoring pain, and records narrative on patient’s condition;
- Carries out prescribed medical and nursing treatments;
- Educates patients on medications being administered.
- Listens to patient concerns; provides emotional support
- Supervises patient care technicians in the delivery of patient care
- Observes, documents and reports patient condition and progress to RNs and providers;
- Provides emotional support to patients and their families.
- Assists with maintenance and stocking of the unit as needed
- Completes abuse assessments and reports findings to RN staff
- Assists in early identification of emergent complications
- Educates patients in health care promotion, such as disease prevention, accident prevention,
Job Requirements:
- Licensed Practical Nursing License - by NYS Education Department (NYSED)
- BLS – Basic Life Support
- Previous hospital experience is desired along with experience in EMR, bar code scanning med pass, and wound care
- Ability to work in POD nursing structure with responsibility for CNA
