What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prevention Mental Health Therapist position at Community Mental Health Authority?
Under the supervision of the Youth Engagement Services Clinical Coordinator brings together local system partners ie. schools, police, DHHS, Purchase of Service Agencies for foster care and Primary Care Physicians, with the goals of : Increasing access points and mechanisms related to getting unidentified youth at risk of suicide, substance use and other disorders linked to appropriate treatment and triaging crisis situations and linking to appropriate referral source. Provide Prevention activities for youth, parents and community partners, including : youth skill based groups in the community, internal and external training and other prevention workshops that may include topics such as suicide prevention, accessing services for mental health, QPR, AMSR, substance use and other youth mental health related topics. Participates in community fairs, events and other outreach related activities as related to youth mental health, accessing behavioral health services and other prevention topics. May complete intake assessments to help families access services. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program / sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA’S mission, policies and procedures.

- Requirements :
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field is required. Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required. Five years of experience (professional under license) in the examination, evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families required. Five years of post Master’s experience with minors with SED and families within the past 6 years is required. Experience in providing training and group facilitation. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally is required. Candidate must be able to collaborate well with others, work well on interdisciplinary teams and have demonstrated ability to positively represent an agency in the community. Must demonstrate good judgement. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and aces to reliable means of transportation for job related use is required.

- 57,125-$64,842 annually with scheduled, annual increases that can result in a salary of $74,972 M-F 8am-5pm with some evening and possible weekend hours as programming dictates 40 hours
