As an Early Learning Coach, you’ll play a vital role in supporting child care providers to enhance their programs, meet quality standards, and create nurturing environments where children can thrive.
In this role, you’ll provide hands-on coaching, technical assistance, and valuable resources to child care providers—both in centers and family home settings. Through the Early Achievers program, you’ll connect families to high-quality child care and ensure that providers have the tools they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide licensed child care providers through the WA State Early Achievers system to improve program quality.
- Provide culturally inclusive coaching and technical assistance in person, virtually, and via email.
- Help providers build capacity in areas like early learning practices, program self-assessments, and technology use.
- Use tools such as Practice-Based Coaching, CLASS, and ERS to assess and improve learning environments.
- Support providers in creating and maintaining Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) aligned with state standards.
- Deliver high-quality training and support for professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with providers to collect and use classroom data for continuous improvement.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and webinars to ensure alignment with Early Achievers goals.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- AAS in ECE required or approved waiver with Professional Development plan.
- BA in ECE or related degree preferred.
- 3-5 years minimum demonstrated leadership experience in Early Childhood Education or related field and working with young children in a group setting.
Plus:
- Knowledge of the Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
- Proven ability to effectively support and motivate people toward the achievement of desired goals.
- Ability to provide leadership, innovation, motivation, and constructive feedback to Early Learning professionals.
- Comfort and a commitment to utilizing and supporting the use of research-based assessments to guide the development of a quality improvement plan.
- Knowledge of Washington State child care licensing and the regulatory environment surrounding Family and Center-based Child Care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child care licensing program policies and early childhood education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of rules and regulations governing Early Achievers.
- Experience coaching or training adults and knowledge of adult learning principles. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice from birth to age 8.
- Demonstrated ability to translate training into practice.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Current valid driver’s license and liability insurance.
- Ability to pass ongoing background checks.
Language Ability:
- Must have the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond well to questions; demonstrate group presentation skills; participate in meetings.
- Must be able to write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; read and interpret written information.
Math Ability:
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate-level skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with database entry, data collection, and evaluation processes.
